Boldly Spoiled: Star Trek's Magic Cards Beam In With a Sheoldred in a Starfleet Uniform and Four Commander Decks

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek isn't due on shelves until November 13, 2026, but the spoiler season is well underway — and the last few weeks have delivered the set's biggest wave of previews yet. At STLV: Trek to Vegas in Las Vegas (August 5–9), Wizards and Star Trek's own convention circuit dropped 58 commons and uncommons in a single day, the largest single reveal since the set's July 14 First Look. We pulled the confirmed card text and product details straight from Wizards' own preview coverage and cross-checked every card against Scryfall's own database, which already lists 91 Star Trek cards with a release date of November 13, 2026.

The cards beaming in

A few of the marquee commons and uncommons revealed at Trek to Vegas:

• Open Communications ({U} Sorcery) — "Draw a card. Beam me up {2}{U} (You may cast this card from your graveyard for {2}{U} if you also return a creature you control to its owner's hand. Then exile this spell.)" A cheap cantrip with a graveyard follow-up, not unlike Think Twice with a twist.
• Christine Chapel, Combat Medic ({3}{G}, Legendary Creature — Human Doctor, 2/2) — "Strange new worlds — When Christine Chapel enters, you gain life equal to the number of differently named lands you control. Whenever you gain life, put two +1/+1 counters on Christine Chapel." A green lifegain payoff built for landfall-heavy Commander decks.
• General Chang, Cold Warrior ({B}, Legendary Creature — Klingon Warrior Officer, 1/2) — "{1}, Sacrifice a creature: Put a +1/+1 counter on each Klingon you control." A one-drop built to power up a Klingon tribal shell, with a Booster Fun treatment that swaps the black mana symbol for a hexagon.

New mechanics: Federation and facing a dilemma

Two new keyword-style tools headline the set. Federation is an ability word that scales an effect to the number of different creature types among your non-Borg creatures — for example, Hoshi Sato, Exolinguist digs X cards deep (X being that creature-type count) when she enters, and Saavik, Stoic Student pings an attacker or blocker for the same number. The set also formalizes facing a dilemma — official reminder text for choosing a mode on a modal spell or ability — which cards like Seven of Nine care about directly: "Whenever you face a dilemma, draw a card."

Collecting Star Trek

According to Wizards' own "Collecting Star Trek: A First Look," the set leans hard into crossover treatments for collectors:

• Stardates — a 30-card bonus sheet of reprints redressed in Star Trek art. The headliner is Khan, Engineered Evil, which Scryfall confirms is the Star Trek-art alternate name for none other than Sheoldred, the Apocalypse.
• Signed Headliners — seven cards hand-signed by the actors who originated the characters, capped at roughly 250 copies each and found only in Collector Boosters.
• LCARS shock lands — all ten shock lands reprinted with a Starfleet-computer-inspired frame and planetary landscape art.
• Classic Enterprise and Scene cards — painterly vintage-poster treatments and borderless multi-card artwork scenes, respectively.

Commander decks

Four precons ship day one: Federation Fleet, Landing Party, Klingon Fury, and We Are the Borg. Standard versions run $74.99 and contain 100 cards with a foil commander; Collector's Edition versions run $159.99 with surge foil throughout the deck.
