Day Two of Star Trek Previews Beams In: Tea, Earl Grey, Hot and Another Flashback Twist
IGN's October 21 reveal adds seven cards to the November 13 crossover, including another card carrying Beam me up — the flashback-style ability Wizards introduced a day earlier.
On October 21, 2026, IGN became the latest outlet to join the preview season for Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek, revealing seven new cards from the set ahead of its November 13, 2026 release, including a Food artifact literally named Tea, Earl Grey, Hot.
The day two haul
All seven cards are already live on Scryfall, confirming the text IGN previewed:
- Tea, Earl Grey, Hot ({2}, Artifact — Food): "When this artifact enters, draw a card. {2}, {T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Choose one — This artifact deals 2 damage to target opponent. / You gain 3 life." It's a straight callback to Captain Picard's go-to replicator order on The Next Generation.
- Pure Energy ({1}{W}, Sorcery): "Distribute two +1/+1 counters among one or two target creatures." It also carries Beam me up, a flashback-style ability: "You may cast this card from your graveyard for {2}{W} if you also return a creature you control to its owner's hand. Then exile this spell."
- Warp Core ({2}, Artifact): "When this artifact enters, you may search your library for a basic land card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle. {1}, {T}: Put two charge counters on target Spacecraft. Activate only as a sorcery." It's one of several new cards built to fuel the set's Spacecraft permanents.
- Mirror Universe Intrusion ({1}{U}{B}, Sorcery, Kicker {4}{U}{B}): "Create a token that's a copy of target creature an opponent controls, except it has menace. If this spell was kicked, instead for each creature target opponent controls, create a token that's a copy of that creature, except it has menace."
- Vexing Drone ({1}{W}, Artifact Creature — Borg): "When this creature enters, tap target creature an opponent controls."
- Dahar Master ({3}{R}, Creature — Klingon Warrior): "When this creature enters, you may sacrifice another nonland permanent. When you do, this creature deals 2 damage to any target."
- Unexplored Territory (Land): "{T}: Add {C}. {1}, {T}, Sacrifice this land: Search your library for a basic land card, put it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle."
Beam me up: Pure Energy isn't the first
Pure Energy is not the first card to carry Beam me up. Wizards introduced the ability a day earlier, on October 20, during the set's Debut Stream on WeeklyMTG, using Open Communications ({U}, Sorcery: "Draw a card. Beam me up {2}{U} (You may cast this card from your graveyard for {2}{U} if you also return a creature you control to its owner's hand. Then exile this spell.)") as the example card, per GameSpot's and CoolStuffInc's coverage of that stream. It isn't the only other one carrying it, either: Scryfall's TRK card data shows two more cards with Beam me up, Energize and There's Coffee in that Nebula, though we couldn't independently confirm when either one was first shown.
The mechanic plays like a tempo-negative Flashback: recast the spell from your graveyard for its stated cost, but only if you also bounce one of your own creatures back to hand. It fits a set built around transporter and mirror-universe themes.
