MagicCon Detroit Early-Bird Badges Go On Sale September 29 — the Discount Window Closes October 5

Magic's 2027 convention season opens in Michigan, and the cheapest badges are the ones you buy first. Early-bird sales for MagicCon: Detroit begin Tuesday, September 29 at 10 a.m. PT at mcdetroit.mtgfestivals.com, and the discount window closes October 5 at 10 a.m. PT — or sooner, if a tier sells out.

The show itself runs February 26–28, 2027 at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan. It is the first MagicCon Detroit has ever hosted, and the first of four on the 2027 calendar, with Tokyo, Las Vegas and Amsterdam following. The weekend also hosts Pro Tour Nauctis — a $500,000 prize pool played out in Nauctis Draft and Modern Constructed — which streams free on twitch.tv/magic whether or not you hold a badge.

A Convention With a Set Theme

Detroit's theme is Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, and Wizards is leaning on the water metaphor hard enough that the announcement is titled "Dive Into the Gathering." Practically, that theme shows up in the badge contents: every tier above the two base badges ships with Nauctis Play Boosters or Collector Boosters, which makes those tiers a de facto preview-product bundle as much as an entry ticket. The plain Single Day and Weekend badges are the exception — they come with the Farseek promo and nothing else.

What Early-Bird Actually Saves You

Early-bird pricing applies to adult badges only. Here is the full ladder, with the discount spelled out:

Badge Early-bird Regular You save
Single Day $43.60 $53.60 $10
Premium Single Day $78.60 $93.60 $15
Weekend $113.60 $128.60 $15
Premium Weekend $173.60 $193.60 $20
Legendary VIP $503.60 $578.60 $75
Black Lotus VIP $1,103.60 $1,203.60 $100

Youth badges are priced flat, with no early-bird tier: Youth Single-Day $28.60 and Youth Weekend $63.60, both of which include two Nauctis Play Boosters, with the weekend badge adding a Foundations Beginner Box. Youth badges cover ages 10 to 15; children 9 and under get in free with a paid adult guardian.

The Family Spark Bundle returns at $353.60, pairing an adult and a youth weekend badge with four foil Farseek promos, six Play Boosters, two Collector Boosters, a Foundations Beginner Box, and access to the Family Spark Lounge — stroller parking, a charging area, and a relaxation zone, plus cosplay, worldbuilding and learn-to-draw workshops across the three days.

The Season Pass

The returning Mythic Bundle is the outlier at $5,200. It carries Black Lotus–level benefits across all four 2027 MagicCons — Detroit, Tokyo, Las Vegas and Amsterdam — plus a travel bag with a power bank, blanket and headphones, and complimentary entry into the Friday Unknown event at each stop. Wizards notes the bundle price includes all local, state and regional taxes and service fees for the full season — it is the only tier where the announcement spells out what the price covers.

Every Badge Comes With a Farseek

All 2027 MagicCon badges include a Farseek promo card with art by Flavio Greco Paglia — non-foil on the Single Day, Premium Single Day, Weekend and youth badges, and traditional foil on Premium Weekend, both VIP tiers and the Family Spark Bundle. It is the same promo across all four 2027 shows, so a Detroit badge and a Tokyo badge do not get you two different cards.

One Line Worth Not Skipping

Wizards states plainly that no additional inventory will be added if a badge type sells out during the early-bird period. That is not the usual "while supplies last" boilerplate — it means a sold-out tier is gone for that window rather than restocked at the higher price, so the tiers most likely to disappear are the ones where waiting costs you the badge, not just the discount.
