MTG Arena's New Wizards Play Network Tools Connect Your Account to Real Game Stores
Four features that rolled out October 1 let players favorite local shops, earn rewards for attending in person, and get event alerts from stores they follow.
Starting October 1, 2026, MTG Arena carries four new Wizards Play Network (WPN) features that connect the digital client to physical game stores, rewarding players for leaving the app and showing up to a sanctioned event in person.
Four features, one shared Wizards account
The rollout, confirmed in Wizards' own MTG Arena announcements, ties a player's Arena account to their in-person event history through the same Wizards account login. The four pieces are WPN Achievements, a Favorite Stores screen, WPN Store Messages, and WPN Event Carousels.
Rewards for walking in the door
WPN Achievements are evergreen and unlock by attending sanctioned in-person events, with progress syncing automatically the next time a player opens Arena after an event. Examples named in the announcement:
- Paper Player I: attend one in-person event, unlocks the "Went Outside" title
- Just Keeping Tabs: favorite a store, grants 1,000 Gold
- Dutiful Drafter II: attend three Booster Draft events, grants one Draft token
- Be Legendary I: play at a store with "Legendary Store" status, unlocks a Jodah, the Unifier card sleeve (a cosmetic in-game sleeve, not a physical card)
Wizards specified that achievement progress is not retroactive: events held before October 1, 2026 do not count.
Favorite stores, messages, and event alerts
The new Favorite Stores screen, a tab on a player's profile, lists every store they have favorited along with its address, and marks stores that have reached "Legendary Store" status with a badge. From that screen, players can opt in to two more features: WPN Store Messages, an inbox tab where favorited stores can send alerts about upcoming events and promotions, and WPN Event Carousels, promotional slides on the Arena home screen that show up to one upcoming event from your favorite stores at a time. Both are opt-in, and players can mute any individual store with a bell icon, which blocks that store's messages and carousel slides without affecting others.
