Secret Lair Raids Bag End with The Hobbit's Marvelous Mathoms Superdrop

Three days after The Hobbit hit shelves, Wizards sent Secret Lair back to Middle-earth. Secret Lair x The Hobbit: A Marvelous Mathoms Superdrop went live August 17, 2026 at 9 a.m. PT (with an 8 a.m. pre-queue), bundling five separate drops of reprints reskinned in Hobbit-flavored art.

Five drops, five moods

The Superdrop splits into five themed collections:

• Second Breakfast and Beyond — seven Food tokens covering the many meals of a hobbit's day.
• Over the Edge of the Wild — five cards including Cloudshift and Seize the Spoils, themed around the company's journey beyond the Shire.
• Smaug's Spoils — five artifact-heavy reprints, among them Sol Ring and Lightning Greaves, dressed up as treasures from the dragon's hoard.
• Desolation — five black cards, including Defile and Diabolic Intent, drawing on the darker corners of the story.
• He Who Walks Unseen — five blue-black cards debuting an exclusive "Out of Sight Edition" foil treatment.

Pricing and the $199 bonus

Each of the four standard drops runs $29.99 non-foil / $39.99 foil, while the He Who Walks Unseen Out of Sight Edition is a flat $59.99. Anyone spending $199 or more across the Superdrop gets a promotional Arcane Signet — reskinned as "Heart of the Mountain" with art built around the gemstone buried beneath the Lonely Mountain — while supplies last. Wizards also offered three curated bundles spanning $119.96 to $259.99 for players who want a mix of foil and non-foil across multiple drops.

The collecting angle

Secret Lair reprints don't affect Standard legality, but they're prime targets for Commander tables and collectors chasing alternate art — especially with Thranduil, the Elvenking driving fresh interest in Sultai Hobbit decks right now. Smaug's Spoils in particular reprints two Commander staples in Sol Ring and Lightning Greaves, so expect those to move even for players who don't care about the Hobbit theme at all.
